Our mission at Safe Streets D.C. is to reduce pedestrian fatalities in the greater Washington area. We promote citizen activism that argues for common sense traffic laws and legislation that makes our city safer for people who just want to walk without fear.

 

 

This campaign started in response to the shocking reality that 2018 saw the highest number of pedestrian deaths in the past 6 years. At Safe Streets D.C., we believe this is unacceptable, and that it is the responsibility of drivers and lawmakers to make meaningful changes in D.C.'s car culture. 

To that end, Safe Streets D.C. has fully endorsed the Vision Zero Initiative, a local measure designed to end pedestrian fatalities in The District by 2024.
